Miss Arilda Jones, who for the past six months has been employed in the Nye and Nisson plant here, and who leaves Sunday for her home in Logan, was the motif for a farewell fare-well party Tuesday night given by Misses Virginia Brown and Stella Cunningham at the home of Miss Brown. The guests enjoyed the usual social diversions followed by a tasty lunch. Miss Jones was presented pre-sented with a lovely set of silverware, silver-ware, by her fellow girl employees of the plant. Those present were besides be-sides Miss Jones and the hostesses: Ruby Copley, Ida Chadwick, Marga-rite Marga-rite Burch, Melissa Ingersoll, Her-Mina Her-Mina Steiner, Pearl Cunningham, Golda Cunningham, Mae Conder and Lucile McAllister. Honoring Mrs. Verla Coddington, who has been first counselor in the Second ward Primary Association, and who is moving to Salt Lake for several months, a party was given at Saratoga Tuesday afternoon. The guests were officers and teachers of the association, nine in number "Lot-j "Lot-j to" was played during the afternoon after which a delicious lunch was served at the small tables. Those ! participating were Mesdames Vergie j Anderson, Verla Coddington, Leila ISykes, Blanche Tattersall, Horten-se Horten-se Allen, Rhoda Harrington, Alta iVamey, Vie Varney and Emma Myers. Blaine and James Bodell of Salt Lake are enjoying a ten day's visit here with their grandmother, Mrs. Martha H. Chipman. Officers and teachers of the First ward M. I. A. held a business meeting meet-ing Tuesday evening at the home of Jarvis Aydelotte. Planning for the Mutual Dell outing was the main topic of discussion. Mrs. Aydelotte Ay-delotte served light refreshments following the meeting. There were ten present. Mrs. Joseph Francis, Wendell Francis, Mrs. Ren Argyle and Mrs. William Furgusen of Lake Shore, Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Webb and children of Salt Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Ottesen, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jos-eph Green and Samuel Greene of Riverton, were visitors during the week of Mrs. Rose Grant, who is ill. Mrs. Melvin Anderson and Mrs. R. J. Stice attended the annual meeting of the Ladies Auxiliaries Union Pacific Pa-cific Old Timers Clubs, OSL No. 3 & L. A. & S. L. No. 2, held in the Committee Com-mittee room, Union Pacific Station, Salt Lake, Tuesday at 1 p. m. The purpose of the meeting was to reorganize re-organize the two ciubs, vote for new officers,, give yearly reports, etc. At 3 p. m. a garden tea party was given by the joint clubs in honor of Mrs. Walter Page, general committee president from Denver, at the home of Mrs. J. S. Hibbert, 414 Quince street, Salt Lake City. The social given last Friday afternoon after-noon by the officers of the Service Star Legion at the home of Mrs. J. J. Mercer Jr., was a most interesting inter-esting and successful affair. Twenty four ladies were present. A short program was given consisting of a violin solo by Miss Merma Grant accompanied by her sister, Miss Dorothy Grant; a reading by Miss Merline Gardner; a solo by Mrs. Ora Chipman, accompanied by Miss Dorothy Grant, a harmonica solo by Mrs. Jennie Chadwick . accompanied accom-panied by Miss Erma Walker of Pleasant Grove. Following! the progam progressive "Stung" was played, the prizes being be-ing won by Mrs. La Rue Morton and Miss Erma Walker. A delicious delic-ious lunch completed the entertainment. Miss La Priel Myers, who is spending spend-ing the summer in Sandy with her sister, Mrs. Golden S. Baxter, came home to join the Second ward on the outing at Mutual Dell Monday morning. Mi-s. Lewellyn . Pratt and two children left Monday evening for their home in Los Angeles after spending three weeks here and in Salt Lake with relatives. Mr. Pratt preceded his family to Los Angeles by a week. Master Foster Nicholes and his sister, Little Miss Catherine Nicholes, Nich-oles, left the first of the week for Long Beach, California, to join their mother, Mrs. Olive Nicholes. The children have spent the past four months here with their grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. Emma C. Foster. They left with an aunt, Mrs. Clinton Larson Lar-son and son of Salt Lake who Is visiting her sister, Mrs. Nicholes there. Eli J. Clayson received word this week from his son Eli K. Clayson, who is laboring as an L. D. S. missionary mis-sionary in the city of Cottbus, Germany, Ger-many, that he had recently been made president of that district in the German-Austrian mission. Mr. Clayson left here in November of 1931. i Mr. Clayson states he received word soon after the promotion that another transfer can be expected!. A party was given Saturday evening eve-ning in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Welby Gammon by the Salt Lake Milk Producers Pro-ducers Association at the G. L. Wilding Wild-ing home in Hunter, Utah. The following fol-lowing were present: Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Gillman, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Bertoch, Mr. Sylvan Clark, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Wilding, Mr. A. W. Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hard-man, Hard-man, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lewis and Mr. and Mrs. Welby Gammon. Ma-. Gammon is the assistant bookkeeper of that association. He married Miss Geneve Andreason of this city recently. |
