Show Local Stock Wins Place In Show At the annual Junior Livestock Show held at the North Salt Lake Union Stock Yards and sponsored j by the Salt Lake Chamber of Com-I Com-I merce, Orval Brown and Stanley Hunter, members of the local chap-1 chap-1 ter of the F. F. A., were prize win-' win-' ners. Orval Brown entered two animals in the show, a fat steer and a fat heifer. His hereford steer, weighing 820 lbs., won first place in the light class winning the prize of $10.00. There were 75 animals ani-mals in the ring to start with. The same steer also won second place in the championship for hereford breed. Hunter entered a steer weighing 900 lbs. in the heavy class and won third place and a prize of $6.00. Tuesday evening the two boys with their instructor, A. B. Allen, were taken out to Saltair. Wednesday they were the guests of the Utah Manufacturers' Association at a luncheon at the Continental Baking Bak-ing company's bakery and a tour of a score of manufacturing plants. An auction of the various animals entered in the show were held Thursday morning. Mr. Allen, F. F. A. advisor, expected that the three herefords entered from American Fork will bring a good price. A banquet at the Hotel Newhouse will close the show Thursday evening when the prizes will be awarded. Regular premiums to be distributed will total $2,000 in addition to many special awards. o |
