Show P.G.A.C. Defeats B. Y. U. Varsity One of ths most interesting basketball bask-etball games of the past season was played at the high school gym. Monday Mon-day evening between the Pleasant Grove Athletic club and the B. Y. TJ. Junior Varsity team, the final score being 45 to 40, in favor of the locals. This game was the first of a three game seri?s for the championship cham-pionship of the Utah county league. The B. Y. U. team won first half honors in the league and Pleasant Grove annexed the second haL'. The second game of this championship series will be played at the B. Y. U. gym. next Monday night, March 5th. If a third game is necessary to decide the winners it will be played later at the Pleasant Grove high school gym. The county winners win-ners will attend the A. A. U. tournament tour-nament to be held in Salt Lake City, March 19th, at the Deseret gymnasium. It is interesting to note that Ver-ney, Ver-ney, who played center, was at least 6 ft. 6 inches in height and towered above Thornton Burke, who played center for the locals. But through Burke's activity the toss-up was divided equally between them. Shelby West was high point man for the locals, though each man was in the game every rninute. Kotter made the most points for the Varsity team. George Gourley, a B. Y. U. letterman, and Shelby West, a U. S. A. C. letterman, who have played basketball through high school and college are a hard combination com-bination to beat. With Christiansen, Christian-sen, Smith and Wadley Pleasant Grove can bring home the honors. On March 19th, a number of local fans could not be paid money enough to stay home if P. G. wins at the tournament. The score: PL. GROVE A. C. G. T. F. P. S.
