Mich., left for their home Monday after visiting for ten cays at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Parduhn. Fred Warkentine visited at the home of Mr. -and Mrs. C. A. Grant on Thursday of last week while en-route en-route to Coleville. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Robinson and family of Fielding, Utah, have been visiting since Poultry day at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lott Robinson. Mrs. A. D. McAllister left Wednesday Wed-nesday morning for Panguitch for a visit with relatives. Mrs. McAllister Mc-Allister accompanied her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira W. Hatch, her sister, Mrs. R. G. Myers, and niece, Miss Diana Haycock, all of Salt Lake City. Mrs. V. F. Houston entertained at dinner in honor of her husbands birthday Monday evening. The out-of-town guests were, Mrs. Mina Houston Lampen, Mr. a.nd Mrs. Fred Houston and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hutching of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. John Robinson and Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Devey attended at-tended the Utah State Grocers Convention Con-vention in Salt Lake City Sunday and Monday of this week. Mr. Robinson Rob-inson said there were some very attractive at-tractive displays of groceries shown and helpful information was given at each of the convention meetings. Local Items j Miss Sadie Nelson spent the fore part of this week in Salt Lake visiting visit-ing with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Wallace and two children of Park City weie week end guests at the home of Mi-, and Mrs. Floyd Loveridge. Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Grant, Mrs. Lyle Grant and Melvin Grant left Monday to attend the funeral services serv-ices of Mark Hurd of Star Valley, Wyoming. The funeral was held Tuesday. Mr. Hurd died of injuries received when his team ran away while working in the field. Mr. and Mrs. Jessa Crookston left Tuesday for Fish Lake for a few days vacation. Hudscn Gordon is on vacation this vvfek from the Utah Power & Light Company where he works as an e'ectrician. Misses Pauline and Shirley Wood-cox Wood-cox of Salt Lake City are visiting at the heme of their grandmother, Mrs. W. A. Robinson, and aunt, Mrs. Earl MoTague, a.nd family. Mr. and Mrs. Heber Rasban of Hf ber are the proud parents of a ' baby girl bom last week. Mrs. Rasban Ras-ban was formerly Miss Birdie Bate of this city. Miss Zola Grant visited last week with relatives in Brigham City. A quilting Bee was held by the First ward Relief Society Tuesday afternoon. Following an afternoon of sewing, light refreshments were served. Dr. and Mrs. Eldred B. Farns-worth Farns-worth arrived Monday from Kansas Kan-sas City for a two weeks visit with Mrs. Farnsworth's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Marsh, also with Mr. Farnsworth's parents in Magna. Rex Taylor returned to work in Chipman's shoe department Wednesday Wed-nesday morning after a week's vacation. va-cation. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor and two children spent a few days in Levan at the home of Mr. Taylor's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Taylor, and the remainder of the week at Wildwood in Provo canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Pett and daughter, Helen, and Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Gaisford and daughters, Ruth and Elaine, motored to Provo canyon can-yon Sunday and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Chipman. Mrs. Lyle Grant and Mrs. Detta Taylor are going to Mutual Dell this evening to sing on the program at the ward day of the Lehi Fifth ward. The Lehi ward is the last of that stake to go to the Dell this year. The Sunshine committee entertained enter-tained the members of the Second ward Relief Society at a program and social in the ward house Tuesday Tues-day afternoon. Mrs. Joseph Walton was in charge of the program, as follows: vocal trio, Nan Chipman, Margaret Dunkley and Affra Mc-Niell, Mc-Niell, accompanied by Evelyn Peck, two selections; readings, Lois Lynch; solo, Nan Chipman; a talk on her recent trip to Alaska, given by Mrs. C. E. Young. Light refreshments re-freshments were served. The Stork has had a busy time this week leaving seven babies in American Fork. The happy parents are as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Wal-lace Brown, boy, born August 17: Mr. and Mrs. Warren T. Anderson, boy, born August 17; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bair of Alpine, boy, born Friday; Fri-day; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shelley, boy, born August 21; Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Kitchen, girl, born August 16; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Featherstone, boy, born August 11; Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Greenwood, girl, born Sunday. Mrs. Emma Anderson . returned home this week from Southern California, Cal-ifornia, where she has been visiting for the past four weeks. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Spratley and Mr. and Mrs. Orval Snow spent the past week-end in Millard county. Mrs. Harlow Jones of Salt Lake City was a visitor during the past week at the home of her mother, Mrs. Melissa Boley and other relatives rela-tives in this city. The Women's Missionary Society of the Community Church met at the home of Mrs. Charles LaFleur on Thursday afternoon of last week. Mrs. John Bunton, president of the society, presided. Ten members were present. Mrs. J. L. Mower and Mrs. Hall Barrett were visitors of the afternoon. A lesson on Stewardship was presented pre-sented by Mrs. Elmer Bezzant. Mrs. Sarah Dixon gave the . missionary topic for the month. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Mrs. R. W. Clark, Reporter. Robert B. Simmons arrived in town Thursday of last week to join his wife and family who have been visiting here for the past two months. Mr. and Mrs. Simmons will leave next week for their home in Pittsburg, Pitts-burg, Pa., after visiting with relatives rela-tives in the northern part of the state. Mrs. Simmons was Miss Florence Flor-ence Friday before her marriage. Mrs. Roy Greenwood entertained a number of ladies at a bridge social so-cial at her home Friday afternoon of last week. Those present were Mesdames George Moss, David Cahn, B. F. Moffett, Leonard Pett, Leonard Leon-ard Chipman, T. A. Barratt and William Chipman. Mrs. Chipman and Mrs. Barratt won the high score awards. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Cunningham returned home Saturday evening from California, where they have been visiting with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Cunningham and daughter, Roberta, came home with them and will visit for two weeks with Mr. Cunningham's mother, Mrs. Jennie Cunningham, and other relatives in this city and Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Thirl Marsh, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Marsh and daughters, Edith and May Rene, returned re-turned Friday from a most enjoyable enjoy-able trip through Southern Utah and other places of interest. They visited Fish Lake, Bryce canyon, Kiabab forest, into the Grand canyon, can-yon, and Navajo bridge in Arizona; back over Mt. Carmel highway to Zion canyon and down to Boulder Dam, returning by way of St. George, Cedar Breaks and up to Puffer lake. Miss Jacobs of Salt Lake City is visiting at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Niels Nielsen. Niel-sen. Mr. and Mrs. Val Gaisford and baby of Price were visitors Tuesday at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Gaisford. Mrs. J. Sanford Walker of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove visited Saturday of last week at the home of her sister, Mrs. S. T. Shelley, of this city. The Senior Genealogical group of the First ward entertained the Junior Jun-ior group at a camp fire program at the Cave Camp Tuesday evening. 1 A good crowd was in attendance and enjoyed the entire evening. The Lavoris 4-H club met at the home of Miss Beth Wanlass Friday of last week and at the home of Miss Vivian Seastrand Tuesday of this week. The class members have finished their slips and started work on a dress. Plans for the annual county 4-H outing at Saratoga were discussed. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Robinson and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Mitchell left Tuesday for Yellowstone park. They will return home about Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Nicholes and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown returned home Monday evening from Yellowstone Yellow-stone park where they vacationed for the past ten days. They report a very enjoyable trip was had. |
