Show Talented Musicians Musi-cians at L. D. S. Tabernacle Alexander Schreiner, University of California and Salt Lake Tabernacle organist, and an augmented Utah State Sinfonietta of 40 musicians will give a concert, or organ and symphonic music at the Salt Lake Tabernacle, Saturday, 8:15 p. m., Alarch 5th. This will be the closing event in a day's celebration on behalf be-half of an appreciation of the arts, sponsored by the Utah State Institute Insti-tute of Fine Arte for the opening of its Thirty-sixth Annual Exhibit at the State Capitol. For the first time in history, Mr. Schreiner and the orchestra directed by Reginald Beales will play the massive Guilmant "Concerto in n Miner." Formal opening of the Thirty-sixth Thirty-sixth Annual Exhibit will be made by Governor Henry H. Blood at 2 I p. m. in the House of Representatives, Representa-tives, State Capitol. At this time, the first annual Art Conference will be held to discuss government sponsorship spon-sorship of arts, a Utah State Art Center, and the building of a larger audience for Utah art. Gail Martin chairman of the State Institute, will preside. A number of distinguished dis-tinguished speakers will take part in the program. At 5 p. m., the third annual din- I ner will be held at the Capitol. After inspecting the pictures, members mem-bers wm go in a body to attend the Tabernacle organ and orchestral program. Utah art, civic and culture cul-ture groups are invited to send delegates dele-gates to the Conference. As added features, five of the best paintings will be selected to be sent in June to the National Exhibit of American Art in New York, and a traveling collection of Federal Art Project paintings from Washington, D. C., will be hung in the Capitol' with the 36th annual exhibit of Utah art. : I |
