Show First Ward M Men- Gleaner Banquet Success The annual First ward M Men-Gleaner Men-Gleaner dinner dance was held In the Harrington building Tuesday night. A patriotic theme entitled "Dawns Early Light," was the central cen-tral theme of the decorations and toasts. The banquet hall was decorated deco-rated with American flags, the central cen-tral one being a large silk flag which waved in the breeze created by an electric fan. During the course of the dinner the room was lighted only by spots of various colors which played upon the waving wav-ing American flag, giving it the appearance ap-pearance of dawn. . The sixty guests were seated, four at a table. Favors of red, white and blue formed the centerpieces. During the dinner a floor show and program was carried out. Mack Cunningham acted .as master of ceremonies. The opening song was "The Star Spangled Banner" followed fol-lowed by prayer offered by Eishop T. A. Greenwood. Miss Carma Meredith, dressed in a costume of red, white and blue, played her ac-cordian ac-cordian after which Misses Elaine Gaisford, Vivian Merikoffer and Miss Bowen gave a military tap dance. A trio including Margaret Dunkley, Lillian Seastrand and Af-fra Af-fra McNeill sang, followed by Karl Bennett playing "Under the Double Eagle," on his banjo. Toasts were given by Dorothy Greenwood to the M Men, Glen Greenwood to Gleaners; Glean-ers; Margaret Dunkley to Mrs. Leo G. Meredith, Gleaner leader; R Gardner to Leo G. Meredith, M Men leader, and Samuel F. Grant to the cooks. Misses Vivian Seastrand and Lucille Lu-cille Walker, dressed in red, white and blue, acted as hat-check girls. The reception committee included, Misses Mildred Greenwood, Donna Lou Davis and Lillian Seastrand; Messers Rulon Draper, R Gardner, Glen Greenwood and their partners. |
