Show 'Manila .Ward Holds Successful Suc-cessful Community Fair Erma Atwood.- j In the Second Year Foods club Katie Eves received first place in individual canning. Showmanship Richard Swenson first, Paul Adams second-Lee second-Lee Warnick third and Eldredge Warnick fourth. n A very creditable community fair . was held in Manila last Saturday, i It was sponsored by the Home Science 4-H club w;ith the relief society, county health nurse, farm J bureau and boys Dairy club coop- j erating. The exhibits were of very high quality. A beautiful flower i show was held in connection with j the exhibits of fruit, vegetables, ; hand work, quilts and 4-H club work. A special exhibit of different types of soil in the community was pre-j pre-j pared to illustrate the importance of the soil erosion problems of the community. j Mr. David Jones of Spanish Fork, j president of the county farm bureau J j and Mr. S. R. Basw-ell, county agent, 1 I spoke on the soil conservation pro- J I gram. The health phase was emphasized by a fine health exhibit prepared by Mrs. Daws, county nurse, illustrating illustrat-ing correct health habits. Mrs. Daws also spoke on the health program. pro-gram. Mrs. Lavina Fugal, president of the ladies section of the county farm bureau, spoke on the farm bureau health plan, and the importance of health assurance. The 4-H club chorus sang, "The Song of Health". Miss Helen Warnick War-nick and Erma Atwood of the Home Science club gave a demonstration in "Table Setting". Miss Hortense Snow of the Extension Division of the U. S. A. C. judged the 4-H club exhibits. The following won places in the Home Science club: Outstanding club girl, Helen Warnick; Kerr Canning contest, Margaret Wadley; Ball Canning contest, Elaine Pack; Style Dress Revue, Afton Pack; best school dress, Helen Warnick; scrap books, Beth Wadley and |
