Show o Local Youth Injured In Mountain Fall Roscoe Nelson, 18, son of Mrs. Mable Nelson, suffered serious injuries in-juries when he rolled 600 feet down an almost sheer slope. Nelson and a dompanion, Riohard Preston, of Lo- gan, had climbed the mountain Monday Mon-day and when night found them near the top, they made temporary shelter and rested for a few hours. About 3 a. m. Tuesday they started down. Nelson ventured too close to a cliff rim. His foot slipped on some ice and he toppled into space. His companion com-panion worked his way down and after a brief examination left the food supply with Nelson and started for help. Rescue parties were already searching search-ing for the boys and met Preston Tuesday. It was Wednesday before they reached Nelson and effected a rescue. Preston said Nelson had suffered a dislocated hip and was cut about the head and body. Attendants at the Cache Valley hospital report the lad suffered from badly bruised arms, a sprained right ankle and right knee, but was resting rest-ing easy Wednesday afternoon. Young Preston, after being taken to his home Tuesday at 9 p. m., wa6 completely exhausted, but otherwise suffered no injuries. o |
