Show Mrs. Martha Featherstone of Lehi, is visiting here indefinitely at the j home of Mrs. Rose Grant. Dr. and Mrs. J. M- Grant were business visitors in Salt Lake City on Thursday. Mrs- John Smith and son, Keith, of Salt Lake City, visited several days this week with her mother, Mrs. Lillian, K. Brown. Davis and two grand, sons, Cecil and Leo Dickerson, left Sunday evening for Alsea, Oregon, to enjoy an indefinite visit and vacation. They will be guests at the DeLos Dickerson home during their stay. j Mrs. R. J. P. Bachman. The local library board, in a meeting here Wednesday afternoon, selected a delegation composed of the librarian, Mrs. Elmlna Foster, and as many board members as could, to attend at-tend the annual Utah State Library convention at Ogden October 5- The convention will be held in the Biglow Hotel. American Fork Locals among those who attended the Paramount Para-mount Theatre in Provo Tuesday evening. Glen Wright, who is employed in Salt Iake City, visited the week-end here with his mother, Mrs- June Wright Mrs. Emma Foster attended a birthday birth-day party in Salt Lake City Saturday evening given in honor of Mrs. Nora Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. George Meredith and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Meredith and daughter, Carma, motored to Salt Lake City Sunday, where they visited relatives. Among those from this city who attended the county fair at Provo on Tuesday were: Mr. and. Mrs. E. B. Hawkins, Misses Lucretia and M'ary Ashby and Mrs. Alex Kerren. Mr. and Mrs. William Firmhge were among those who attendtd Sir Harry Lauder's concert at the. Paramount Para-mount Theatre in Provo Tuesday evening. Dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Adams on Sunday were, Mr. an'd Mrs. Marion Mercer and baby of Bingham Canyon, and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Thornton and son, Blaine, of this city. Walter Haas arrived from Canada Thursday evening, being called on account of the serious illness of his youngest child. The Haag's are residents resi-dents of Pleasant Grove, but the many Mentis in this city of the family fami-ly will be grieved to learn of the baby's illness. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Ashton, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Gorden, Mr. and Mrs. O.' C. Mercer, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Earle, Miss Amy Shelley of this cif' and Mrs. Jennie Nostrum of .Lehi, attended attend-ed the open-house reception at the new Utah! Power arid Light Co.'s office in Provo on Saturday. Following the reception, the group attended, the Paramount Theatre. Mr. and Mrs- William Firmage combined business and pleasure in the capitol city on Monday. Mrs. Abe Gudmundsen and Mrs. Morris Davies spent Tuesday in Lehi visiting with Mrs. Andy Trane. Mr. and Mrs- R. W. Gardner of Salt Lake, spent Saturday in American Fork visiting with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Gardner. Mrs. Kenneth Foster of Bingham Canyon is visiting this week at the home of her mother-in-law, Mrs, Emma. Foster. Mr. land Mrs. Owen Humphries, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shelley and Mrs. C. A. Grant attended the Orpheum Theatre in Salt Lake City Tuesday evening. Dinner guests on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Gudmundsen Gudmund-sen were: Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Gudmundsen Gud-mundsen and daughter of Bingham Canyon, and Mr. and Mrs. Morris Davies of this city. Mrs. Howard Mendenhall and baby returned home Wednesday evening from Salt Lake City, where they spent a week, Mrs. Mendenhall having hav-ing had the baby at the County Hospital Hospi-tal receiving treatment for a gathered gath-ered ear. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown, Mrs. Lillian C- Brown and Mrs- Kenneth Brown were among those who attended at-tended the funeral services of David Jones in Lehi Thursday afternoon. The deceased is Mrs. Frank Brown's father. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Holman of Pleasant Grove are the happy parents of a fine baby boy born Thursday morning. Mother and babe are doing do-ing very nicely. Mrs. Holman was formerly Miss Florence Hansen of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Strange were Complimentary to her grandson, Bert Bartlett, who left Saturday for Missoula, Montana, Mrs. C. A. Bartlett Bart-lett entertained thirty of his friendi at her home last Friday. Games were enjoyed, after which refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Humphries and Mrs. M. A. Wild were visiting rela. itives and friends in Preston, Idaho and Brigham City over last week-end o Mrs. R. E. Booth entertained at a chicken dinner Saturday for Mrs. Lillian C. Booth and children, Wayne C. and Lucile. Covers were also marked for the members of the immediate im-mediate family Miss Alice. Jacklin atten'ded the County Fair at Provo Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Miss Jacklin was assistant supervisor in the 4-H Club Demonstration Work. Eli J. Clayson, Mrs Zina Brockbank, Mrs. Lillian C. Booth and children, Lucile and Wayne C, Miss Ann Clay-son Clay-son and Joe Clay?on were in attendance attend-ance at the County Fair in Provo on Thursday evening. Dick Adams entertained last Tues. day at a "peanut bust" in compliment to his cousin, Bert Bartlett, who left the last of the week for Missoula, Montana, to make his home. Edward Abel entertained at a duck and chicken dinner Saturday Satur-day evening. Fall flowers were formed to make an artistic centerpiece center-piece for the table. Covers were laid for ten guests besides the mem1 bers of the immediate family. An out-ofjtown guest was Mrs. Abel's sister, Mrs. Pnome Richmond, of Provo. According to word received during dur-ing the week on the condition of Roy L. Gillespie, who is ill in Richfield, Rich-field, recovering from a severe hemorrhage hem-orrhage as a result of a broken ar tery in his nose, he is much improved. im-proved. Mr. Gillispie was working last week on the telephone linej near Pauguitch when he was stricken, strick-en, and was rushed by workmen to the Richfield hospital. With some difficulty the hemmorrhage was checked, but the loss of blood was so great that it was necessary to make a blood transfusion Sunday to save the patient's life. Four high school boys, Blake Robinson, Thatcher Thatch-er Hadlcy, J. Ixiwe Sevy and Ivan Ho:pking volunteered to give blood for the transfusion. |
