Show P. G. Telephone Office To Be Handled By Agency; Pleasant Grove Dissatisfied Recent announcements concerning the telephone service in this corn-. munity are to the effect that the Plea ant Grove office is to be handled by an agency. The two south upstairs rooms of the corner building where the office is at present located ara being cleaned and otherwise fixed up to be used as living rooms for Mr. and Mrs. Lyean Johnson. Mrs. Johnson John-son will take over the agency and hire her own help. This change will probably be more economical for the Telephone Co., but citizens are wondering if this will ba best for the community. Pleasant Grove has been promised new quarters quart-ers for their telephone service for some time and is not as a whole satisfied with this announced change. The Agency could not afford to Mre our trained operators for as many hours at their present salary, and therefore may not be able to stay with the service. New operators will then have to be trained to the system. Pleasant Grove operators should receive the same salary as girl operators in other towns, and be able to grow in the service with the same raise in salary as other operators opera-tors in the service are. Two meetings have been held but nothing definite has been done. A committee consisting of representative representa-tive citizens of this district, with the president of the Chamber of Com. merce as chairman, will call on Mr. Hyde, Utah state manager, Mr. Miller, district manager, and Mr. Myers, local lo-cal manager, and see if something caa be done to make our telephone system more up to date an'd give us better service. Pleasant Grove does not want to practice economy while the Telephone System gives up-to-date equipment, and splendid public' service ser-vice in other towns the size of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove throughout the state. Citizens Citi-zens are not satisfied with the present switchboard and other ancient equipment. equip-ment. t . ., i - "1 |
