Show Farm Bureau Meets With City Council To Discuss Weed Cleanup Campaign At the regular session of the city council E. J. Clayson, W. J. Chadwick and M. F. Miller, a committee representing repre-senting the local farm bureau, wero present to consider the means whereby where-by weeds on the streets of our city could be cleaned up. Mr. Clayson stated that the farm bureau had been conducting a noxious weed eradication eradica-tion campaign all year, an'd were willing will-ing to cooperate with the city in this matter. It was stated that the Farm. Bureau organization was willing 10 hire a man and team to mow weeds for a few days, but desired that the city take the lead. The matter was finally referred to the Street committee, commit-tee, and they, with the farm bureau, an'd county, were given authority to take necessary action to further the weed cleanup campaign. A report from the State Board of Health was given stating that the bacteriological analyses of the sample of American Fork City's culinary water indicated water of excellent sanitary quality. The council was in receipt of a letter from the State Board of Health, in which L. H. Hale, sanitary engineer, engi-neer, stated that if the Ashby Fox Farm continues to be obnoxious and a nuisance to the people in the community it should be removed from, its present location. He further stated stat-ed that their department would be glad to assist the city in any way providing local authorities take action, against the present location. It was suggested at the meeting that the city, Utah Poultry Founder's Day committee and the TImpanogos Outdoor Out-door committee, purchase from Axel Bloomquist the lighted signboard at the west entrance of the city for the purpose of advertising the industries and possibilities of the community. The Public Property committee and the mayor were appointed to investigate investi-gate details of the matter and give a definite report at the next council meeting. |
