Show Bond and Dorma Bonham to celebrate their 80th birthdays five weeks apart t-MSt - U s sn j On January 17, Bond Bonham 1 celebrated his 80th birthday by 1 attending two session at the temple with his wife, Dorma, and then was visited throughout the day by family members. ! On Feb. 24 of this year, Dorma Bonham will celebrate her 80th birthday. Alvin Bond Bonham was born Jan. 17, 1909 to Albert Wagner and Martha Bond Hadlock Bonham. He I has four brothers, Chancey Hadlock, Walter Hadlock, James Hadlock and Albert (Bert) Bonham, and two sisters: Ruby Hadlock Davis and Mable Bonham Child. He attended Clinton public schools and Davis County High. He later took a correspondence course in electricity and worked for the railroad. In Dec. 1926, he left to serve an LDS Mission to Honolulu, Hawaii. On April 24, 1929 he was married to Dorma Louella Child in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. ! Dorma Louella Child was born j Feb. 24, 1909 to John C. Child and Marthina Carlson. She also at-i at-i tended Clinton public schools and Davis County High School. Bond and Dorma have three children: Neil Bonham, Pleasant Grove; Ralph Bonham, Orem; and Janet Hansen, Pleasant Grove. They have 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. They have worked together in various businesses throughout their married life. Shortly before World War II, Bond and his brother, Bert, developed the "Power Horse," a four-wheel drive general farm tractor which they later sold to Allis Chalmer. For many years Bond and Dorma were involved in the production of sporting equipment for several major companies. Then . the family manufactured and sold the Tote Gote, an off-road machine. They have been in business in Utah, California, Idaho and West Virginia. Both have been active in the LDS Church all their lives and have held many different positions in the church. They have served as temple workers, as well as Sunday School superintendent and Relief Society president. They served a six-month work mission in Kentucky and two year missions to Florida and to the Indian In-dian tribes in Canada. They still have many contacts with the people from these mission fields, but feel that their current missionary work in supporting the Family to Family Book of Mormon Program of the church is one of their greatest missionary successes. Bond and Dorma Bonham On April 24 of this year, Bond and Dorma will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. A family party and open house is planned. |
