Show Hales honored by PGHS Booster Club y j The Pleasant Grove High School Booster Club paid tribute to Cliff and Dora Hales before the Viking-Timpview Viking-Timpview football game last week for their support of PGHS sports. The Hales have assisted as score keepers and in many other positions posi-tions for many years. Their oldest son graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1955. This is when Cliff started keeping score, stats, etc., and Dora became an avid spectator, not only at home games, but also traveling with the team. This continued on year after year even after their youngest son graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1975. Basketball coaches have utilized util-ized Cliffs talent and support on the sidelines for as long as they can remember. Coach Allred stated, "Cliff is appreciated for the type of role model he has presented himself him-self as to all the players, coaches and officials. His expertise, supervision, super-vision, and calming influence on the sidelines will always be highly regarded." During football season over the years Cliff has been on the sidelines with the "chain gang", at the scorers scor-ers table and keeping the clock. When baseball season rolls around once again Cliff will be in the dugout keeping stats and scores for the coaches at home and away games and his wife supporting support-ing him and the team in the stands. Not only has Cliff supported high school athletics but he has been a tremendous source of support sup-port in the community recreation programs. Bill Hoglund stated, "Cliff is the type of person who will volunteer his help and then makes sure he is there to do the job. He never lets you down." Cliff has kept score for years in the community men's basketball and softball programs. Dora is the drive and support behind Cliff. If a person were to calculate the number of athletic events she has watched, it would be phenomenal. Married nearly 52 years, the Hales are the parents of six children, chil-dren, all of whom graduated from Pleasant Grove High School, as did Dora. They have 27 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The couple was awarded some stadium blankets to keep them warm at games in the years to come. Delbert Carlson, American Fork, won the Remington 270 rifle which was given in the drawing held during the game. Dora and Cliff Hales |
