Show Review - Wednesday , March 23, 1988 - Page 9 Local hunters draw out for hunt Grove and Dan Chamberlain of Alpine were drawn for the Chalk Creek hunt. David L. Hunt and Paul G. Roper of Lehi were drawn for the Morgan-Sout- h Rich hunt. Rulon S. Adams of Pleasant Grove was selected for the Uinta South Slope hunt. Eugene Loveridge of Highland was drawn for the Morgan-Sout- h Rich hunt. Drawn for the Henry Mountains was Theo L. Brown, American Fork. Paul G. Roper of Lehi was also drawn for the Henry Mountains. Roper also drew for the single permit for North San Juan. Theo L. Brown also drew out for Lone Peak, one of four in state permits with 389 resident applicants. Several local hunters were suc-cessful in the drawings for a e permit to hunt moose, buffalo, sheep or Rocky Mountain goat held in Salt Lake City March 18. Herman H. Kehl of American Fork was drawn for the moose hunt on the Uinta North Slope. There 653 applicants for the 25 permits. Gary J. Fisher of Lindon drew out for the Henry Mountains. Boyd R. '(Photo by Todd Veenker ) Defending state champs begin season The sounds of spring are echoing around the Pleasant Grove High School baseball diamonds. You can hear the crack of bats, cheers of fans and voices of coaches, as baseball season arrives. The Vikings are the defending 3A state champions and are preparing to approach the season as such. Although the Vikings lost several jf their seniors last year, they are ;oming back with some strong seniors this year who were a very mportant part of last year's team. They will be supported by a alented junior and sophomore ;quad. Baseball was intended to be an ifternoon game and so it is in 'leasant Grove. Most games are ilayed in the early afternoon. There is no admission charged at hese games and it is a deligtful way a spend a few hours in the The Viking Booster Club invites veryone to come and support the jams and enjoy the association of students, parents and fans at the ball park. The high school diamonds are located just west of the football stadium and just south of the little league diamonds. There will be drawings for prizes, fun and exciting Viking baseball. The only things the players will" need are a mitt and lots of energy. All games will be played either at Lindon Park or Lindon School on Friday evenings, beginning on June 3. This league is not formed through or associated with the Pleasant Grove Recreation. It is the only hardball league offered for the kids of this age in the area. There are a limited number of teams and assignment to teams will be on a first signed up basis. The fee is $10. Parents are the coaches and sometimes help is needed. Classes will begin Tuesday, April 5, and will run every Tuesday and Thursday for a period of three weeks thereafter. Times will start at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Instructor will be PGA Professional Gary Naylor. The cost will be $30 per person for lessons, which includes instruction and balls. X 't, iff '$ f At Erin Measom ;elected for itate honor Erin Measom, senior from 'leasant Grove High School, was ,, ecently named to the Salt Lake 'ribune's All-St- Basketball 'earn. As a member of this team, she articipated in the annual 3A-4- all-ta- r game held March 8 at the huntsman Center. She was one of the leading scorers l the contest and represented the 3- -i squad very well. J Erin was recognized earlier this lear as the state MVP in volleyball. 2 Erin was also named as MVP in le county all-st- game. Hope 'J mith was also named to the county team from Pleasant Grove.
