In other action, the city council approved a new zone and made a zone change for the Autumn Cove Subdivision Phase II which is located near 350 N. 1125 East. This plat was originally approved as an Rl-SD zone. A couple of years ago the council changed the names of the zones and placed this area in an Rl-12 zone. It does not meet the lot size requirements for Rl-12 and this was overlooked when the re-zoning re-zoning was done. To correct this, the council approved ap-proved the formation of an Rl-10 zone which will accommodate properties which are 10,000 square feet. The council was told that many of the lots on the east bench, most of which is zoned Rl-12, are 10,000 square feet. The set back and front footage requirements are the same for the new zone as for the Rl-12. Doug Bezzant, Community Development Director, told the council that there are some other areas in the city, also, in which the lot sizes are 10,000 square feet and XL. M, which will have to be re-zoned when a complete study is completed. Councilman Lloyd Ash told the council that the low bid of Craig Johnson Co. for furnishings for the new library and senior citizen center was recommended for acceptance. The bid was $46,545.16. The council approved the bid with options to allow the cost to go as high as $48,000 in case more furnishings were needed. The councilman said that all of the bids came in below the architects estimate of $80,000. The council discussed the landscaping land-scaping of the railroad underpass area. They learned that the area had been measured and was larger than the Downtown City Park. The steepness of the terrain, the length of time to grow shrubs, and maintenance were discussed. Thy state has agreed to give $30,000 toward landscaping the area but the city council said they could foresee some serious and expensive problems with maintenance. Lack of manpower was cited as just one of the considerations. The matter was tabled until Bill Hoglund, Superintendent of Parks and Recreation, could get some figures and information on the maintenance of the area. The city would like to plant small evergreens but it would take about seven years for them to grow large enough to cover the entire hillsides. The council approved the expenditure ex-penditure of $1,000 of special projects funds to make repairs to the LaFrance fire engine. The truck is being repainted. It also needs to have the rear discharge valve repaired, the power steering leak fixed, the handbrake repaired, and the front springs removed. The fire department felt that it would cost between $1,000 and $2,000 to make the repairs. The council asked that the repairs be prioritized and that the most pressing be done at a cost not to exceed the $1,000. The council was told that the cost to remodel the County Justice of the Peace office was $7,620.58. This will be reimbursed to the city though lease fees for the next five years. |
