Youths win tablesetting contest Tara Colton wins essav contest David Welcker and Jason Merryweather, seniors in the Vocational Foods programs at Pleasant Grove High School, have won two of the three top places in the Regional ZCMI tablesetting contest. David won second place, which was a 40 piece set of Oneida stainless steel flatware, and Jason won third place and a 45 piece set of stoneware. The boys were entered in the regional contest after being named as two of the six winners selected at Teresa Griffin, faculty advisor, said that it is unusual for six students to be selected as winners from a single school. Using store merchandise, the two boys created tablesettings which caught the eyes of the judges and the shoppers who were allowed to vote on their favorites. The boys said they were excited that they had won and were glad they had participated. They would encourage other students to participate par-ticipate in the future, they said. |
