Show Lindon Council favorable to new rest stop signed an agreement with Mountain Fuel and are looking at a proposal with Utah Power and Light. In other council business it was announced Verna Bean was appointed ap-pointed for a two-year term with the Planning Commission. Verna will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mryl Jarvis who will be leaving the area with her husband to fill an LDS mission. Clean up Days in Lindon will be held April 29 and 30 and the Lindon City Fair will be held August 6. The plans are tentative I'd details need to be worked out. !;Lindon felt it would be a showcase the state. Located in the In- strial area, it would require a zone change. Discussion came up concerning the nearby landfill expansion and compatibility to a rest stop. The council felt the Travel Center would offer a tax base compared to the continual expense of maintaining main-taining the roads to the landfill and meeting all the EPA requirements. They would rather see the landfill prepare another site. A discussion was held pertaining to the 1988-89 budget. The council was concerned that revenue would be decreased following the Board of Equalization meeting. A check on the revenue looks like money will come in as projected. Extra expenses were covered last year with the flood situation and the construction of the Debris Basin in the 400 North area. With participation par-ticipation from the Federal Government, Forest Service and the Soil Conservation, the city didn't have to put in a lot of money. The extra expense was greatest for the Water Department. The budget review found the city over-spent on part-time help. A suggestion was made to amend the budget to provide for the hiring of part-time help in the summer. Proposed projects were reviewed with much emphasis on street repair. The city has an accumulation ac-cumulation of road funds. The city crews were so involved with the flood project last year, the road-work road-work had to be put aside. Several streets will have overlays. The city anticipates spending $100,000 on street improvement to finish out this year's budget. Councilmen are to review this budget and project for next year.
