Overson Raymond Overson receives Eagle Raymond Layne Overson, son of Leland and Carolyn Overson, received his Eagle Scout Award Sunday, June 7, at 6 p.m. in a special Court of Honor held at the Pleasant Grove East Stake Center. Raymond is a member of Troop 835. He has held the positions of Senior Patrol Leader and Deacons Quorum President. While under his leadership, Troop 835 won highest honors at summer camp and earned the rank advancement award for 1986 in the stake. For his Eagle project, Raymond set up and supervised members of his troop in a trail restoration project up Battlecreek Canyon. The trail had been damaged by severe avalanches during the previous winter. Raymond enjoys playing baseball and basketball and has a love for the great outdoors. Tami Thurgood, Kristine Larsen and Kirsten Bottom, KyLee Young, Scott Flindeis, VanDyke. Absent was Jenie Smith. P.G. Sr. Seminary Council announced The president of next year's Pleasant Grove High School Seminary Council is Scott Flinders. Grayson Little is is activities vice president; academics vice president is Todd Veenker. Tami Thurgood and Brett Tolman are recognition vice presidents; devotional vice president is Jenie MS Smith; David Flinders is assem-blies vice president; Mijken Haley is secretary; Kristine Larsen is historian; promotional vice president is Will Kimball; and student relations vice president is Kylee Young. Matt Richardson is the advisor for the council. The Seminary Council is very excited about the coming year and will be meeting during the summer in preparation. They also recently attended a leadership conference in Star Valley, Wyoming to improve and expand their leadership qualities. I Eric Michael Gaines Eric M. Gaines earns Eagle Eric Michael Gaines, 14, son of David and Linda Gaines, Pleasant Grove, received his Eagle Scout Award on March 24 at a Court of Honor held in the Manila Stake Center. Eric is a member of Troop 875. Eric likes soccer, playing on the Pleasant Grove High School junior varsity team. He likes swimming, camping and hiking. Eric built water heaters for the girls camping supplies for the Manila 5th Ward for his Eagle Service Project. Eric is in the tenth grade at Pleasant Grove High School. Public swim hours to be lengthened The Public Swimming hours at the Pleasant Grove City Swimming Pool are being changed from the two sessions per day which are currently in effect, to a one session format Monday through Saturday. Patrons of the pool are welcome to swim from 1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Private party reservations may be made at the pool office and are available after 8 p.m. on weekday and Saturday evenings, and may be made Saturday mornings or early afternoon prior to public swimming. Questions may be answered by calling the Swimming Pool at 785-240- 3 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. in the evening. The one session format will be in effect until further notice. |
