Show History Encampment to commemorate Constitution bicentennial j Rendezvous With History Sncampment commemorating the Jicentennial of the Constitution of I he United States of America will be ield the week of Aug. 12-15 on the l)omingus Escalante Trail near Spanish Fork. A The campsite is located about five Jniles east of Spanish Fork on U.S. highway 6-89, in the foothills south ;f the new Spanish Fork Golf bourse. According to David Taylor, jnairman of the Encampment ommittee of the Utah National a arks Council, Boy Scouts of I" merica, more than 10,000 scouts nd leaders are expected to par-Cpate par-Cpate in this event. "It will be the lrgest encampment ever held in 'is area, with the exception of the ational Boy Scout Jamborees held 'Idaho," said Taylor. JC celebrating the 200th An-I An-I wrsary 0f the Constitution, the icampment will be organized into ib-camps representing the original 1 colonies. Events will be pat-,rned pat-,rned after national jamborees and 111 feature games and events conducted by trained, skilled scout leaders from throughout the scout council. It will involve activities, skill areas, campwide games, campfire programs, midways and many other opportunities for youthful fun and life-lasting experiences. "We are hopeful that all scouts and their leaders will attend and enjoy all that the Rendezvous Encampment has to offer," said Rees A. Falkner, Scout Executive, Utah National Parks Council. Each colony campsite will include sufficient space to accomodate the troop camping. Each colony is asked to provide the following facilities: one large tent to be used as the Colony Headquarters, one large tent for distribution of food, tentage of Colony staff, camp flag poles for American and district flags. Colony staff will furnish their own bedding and tents. The Encampment En-campment will cover over 300 acres nestled at the base of the Father Escalante Monument and perched on a plateau overlooking the great Utah Valley. |
