Show Regional Dance Festival to highlight community faj By KALYN SECRETAN A regional Dance Festival is in the planning stages, to be held with the Pleasant Grove Birthday party in September. Pleasant Grove, Manila and Lindon wards will combine to present the festival Sept. 5 at the Pleasant Grove High School football field. It will be in commeration of the 200th Anniversary of the Constitution. Con-stitution. Everyone 12 and over will have an opportunity to participate in an event where the citizens who have given their all, that we may enjoy our freedom will be honored. Dances will be portrayed as the wars throughout the period of the Constitution will be remembered from the Revolutionary War to the Vietnam War. The Minuet will be featured as well as square dancing, the Mexican Hat Dance, Charleston, Swing and some of the recent fad dances. After the finale, fireworks will fill the sky. Carol Harmer is the coordinator with Dave and Janet Holdaway serving as regional directors. Stake representatives are Manila, Jack and Judy Larkin; Lindon, Karma Fryer; Pleasant Grove, John and Debbie Bratt; Pleasant Grove East, Carol Harmer, coordinator of Region Dance Festival, shares plans with the choral chairman, Leslie Rees, while Dave Holdaway listens in. Dan and Kathrine Lewis; and Timpanogos Stake, Kalyn Secretan. Les Rees will conduct the chorus and Doug Bezzant will furnish the sound. Ward dance directors will be called together for dance practice and go back and teach their ward. The purpose of the event is to offer citizens young and old, an opportunity to invest time and energy, through working togethe a worthwhile cause, thus develop in them a sense of accomplish and pride in themselves and tl communities and country. |
