Show BYU to raise tuition next year Undergraduate tuition at BYU will be raised from $820 to $860 a semester next school year, an increase in-crease of $40 or 4.88 percent. President Jeffrey R. Holland said ttie increase is necessary to keep pace with the continually rising costs of operating the university. Even at the new elevel, BYU's Mtion will be among the lowest four percent of all private colleges and universities in the nation, ac cording to data from the National Institute of Independent Colleges and Universities. Tuition for the current year was originally set at $810 per semester, but a catastrophe insurance fee is $10 was subsequently added, brining the tuition and fee total to $820. Next year's tuition for graduate and advanced standing students will be raise dfrom $950 to $995 per semester, an increase of $45 or 4.74 percent. Law School and Graduate School of Management tuition will go from $1,535 to $1,610 per semester, an increase of $75 or 4.89 percent. These tuition rates apply to students who are members of the LDS Church. Students who do not belong to the LDS Church pay one and a half times the member rate. |
