Show Family to host anniversary open house to honor George and Fern Jacobsmeyer An open house in honor of the Golden Wedding Anniversary of George and Fern Jacobsmeyer will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Grove Ward LDS Chapel, 455 E. 200 South, Pleasant Grove, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. All friends and relatives are invited in-vited to attend. They request no gifts, please. The couple was married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Oct. 13, 1937. George was born in Portland, Ore., on June 6, 1910. He retired as a fireman for Los Angeles, Calif., after 28 years. He bowled for 55 years and had an entire wall full of trophies. He played basketball and baseball. He has worked in scouting and has been a leader and trainer. George organized the first Teacher Training Program in the LDS Church. Fern Simmons Jacobsmeyer was born in Pima, Ariz, on March 28, 1915. She has been active in teaching in the LDS Church all of her life. She is now involved in the Spanish Extraction Program for the church. Her hobbies have been painting, sewing, gardening and studying the gospel. George and Fern lived for 37 years in Sunland, Calif. They moved to Utah in 1984 and went on a church mission in 1985. They are the parents of eight children: Larry, a maintenance engineer, Sandy; Jon, a fireman, Canoga Park, Ca.; Cherilyn, teacher, Boise, Idaho; Marlene, an employee of Alpine Fire Place, Pleasant Grove; Hugo, teacher, Boise, Idaho; Loretta, teacher, Orerr,; Roberta, teacher, Pleasant Grove; and Robert, fireman, Ogden.
