Show . wn-"'s,, .i ,.--,'v; . V ' j , f i - .:.:!.' -If' . .. . i The PGHS Viking girls volleyball team continues to rack up wins over their opponents, beating Provo and Payson this past week. Tracy Williamson goes up for the hit as Pam Beagley watches. The team is now tied for first with Timpview. Lady Vikes march on to volleyball victories are scheduled to play at 4 p.m., J.V. at 5:15 p.m. and Varsity at 6 p.m. The J.V. and Varsity times are approximate, depending whether the matches go 2 or 3 games. There is a small admission charge. The Pleasant Grove High School Girl's Volleyball team continues to win, with a critical game against Timpview tonight that will put P.G. into the number one spot in Region 8 with a win. At the beginning of the season, Timpview handed P.G. their only loss of the season. Since then, the team has gotten stronger and has worked together well in their games. Coach Marie Bone is hoping for a win tonight, feeling that the girls are f ready to meet Timpview. In recent action against Provo this past week, the Lady Vikings handed them a loss of 15-4 and 15-10. Some great serving from Kirsten Van Dyke with 7 points and Heather Coons with 5 points helped to cinch the win in the first game. In the second game of the match, Kristine Larsen served 7 points. The 1 entire Varsity team worked together with some great teamwork . The J.V. team struggled in their last two games in their match against Provo. In the first game they beat Provo 15-10. Then they lost their last two matches, 7-15 and 12-15. The Sophomores ran past the Bulldogs in the last two games of their match, although their first game looked pretty rough with a score of 3-15. Their last two scores were 15-10 and 15-13, P.G. had an interesting first game against Carbon at P.G. Kirsten Van Dyke served an incredible 12 points in a row, with P.G. only giving up 4 points to Carbon. At that point, Varsity seemed to relax a little too much, and started to allow Carbon to put points on the board. P.G. did, however, beat them, 15-13. J.V. had a real struggle against a strong Carbon team. They lost their match to Carbon in two games, despite a valiant try, 15-5 and 15-9. The Lady Vikes continued their roll in their match against Payson, embarrassing them on their home court. They beat them 15-10 and 15-5. In the first game, Pam Beagley got on a roll, and served 6 points for The Vikings. In the second game, Heather Coons and Mindi Hall combined for 5 points, then Kirsten and Pam wrapped the game up with 9 points between them. In the first game that J.V. played against Payson, P.G. struggled a bit, but came back and beat them, 17-15. Hillary West served 5 of the points in that game, with Trade Williamson and Heather Johnsen making 4 each. In the second game, Captain Mindi Hall decided to keep the ball rolling and served 7 points, with Hillary West and Valyn Storey making 6 points between them. The Sophmores had a tough time in their battle against Payson, particularly in their first game, getting beat 15-5. In their second game, however, some great even scoring from all of the players gave Payson a run for their money, but ' Payson beat P.G., 15-12. Coach Bone and her staff would like to invite the community, and particularly the Viking Boosters to the games tonight at Timpview High School in Edgemont. The Sophmores |
