Each grade named citizens of the month. I Manila honors Citizens of the Month Nguyen, Trina Kerr, Jeff Jacbos, Jennifer Robison, Joel Rushton, Jill Ewell, Luke Nehring, Amy Hall, Cari Farr, Bronson Smart, Annette Harvey. Other honored included Karl Judson, Shana Garner, Nate Bowen, Sonia Bunker, Lisa King, Matt Woods, Kurt McEwen, Nicholas Stevenson, Jason Long, Thomas Schow, Tiffany Hansen, Denise Shell, Ryan Sampson, and Sharalee Christensen. Citizens of the Month at Manila Elementary were honored during the month of May for being "responsible students." Awards were presented Thursday, May 28. Those receiving awards were: Nate Cullimore. Sofia Lee, Aimee Warner, Matt Fugal, Becky Mair, Jacob Stowell, Rachel Jensen, Isaac Workman. Jordan Gallop, Sylvia Larson, Tina Leone, Josh Davis, Jeff Murdoch. Rvan Steineckert. Crystal I Terry, Nathan McMurtrey and Amanda Harmer. Also, Janey Kay Clark, Matthew Best, Candice Spencer, Summer Gardiner, Kirtis Kennard, Randy McNair, Shari Scholes, Jason Langford, Joey Persson, Mishy Rodriques, Tiffny Losee, Trevor Johnson, Maria Walden, Tom Rasmussen. Anita Woods, Javan Shumway, Shane Freeman, Jeanette Warnick, Ivy Sonberg, Jeff Yerkes, Nghia i i Janalyn Memmott selected "Outstanding Choreographer' ' She is a recent graduate from BYU, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance with emphasis on Theatre Ballet. She and her husband Kelly L. Memmott reside in Pleasant Grove. She is the daughter of Warren S. and Joycelyn Ault Wimmer. At present, she is ballet coor-dinator for the Stars Studio and teaches at BYU where she plans to continue her education towards a Masters Degree. Janalyn Wimmer Memmott was selected as the "Outstanding Choreographer" during recent awards ceremonies of the Dance Department at Brigham Young University. I She also received the award for "Outstanding Teacher. ' ' T Making the presentations, Dr. Phyllis Jacobson stated "Janalyn was consistently judged by her peers and professors as the best student teacher in the department. Darrell has been ap-- pointed director of information services for the U.S. Education Department's Office of Educational I Research and Improvement J (OERI), Chester E. Finn, Jr., OERI's assistant secretary has announced. II f He is the son of G. Paul and Polly ; Darrell of Pleasant Grove. ' In his new position, Darrell, 3, hue will supervise the writing and efre editing of OERI publications and will direct the Educational pee Resources Information Center g)! (ERIC) system. SB He will also oversee the Depart-ment's quick-respon- service, a e hotline which provides educators and the public with ij education statistics and specific information and work on special projects for the Department. W From December 1985 through January of this year, Darrell served 3 as director of public affairs for the jj President's Commission on Americans Outdoors. Chaired by 0 Lamar Alexander, former governor of Tennessee, the Commission was 2 rged with examining, improving y4 and protecting recreation op- - Portunities throughout the nation. From 1976 to 1985, Darrell served in several capacities for Senator frrin G. Hatch, both in Washington JndUtah. When Hatch became chairman of fe Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee, which versees education, Darrell was 'Ppointed majority press secretary 0 the committee. Darrell received a bachelor of science degree in mass com-munications from the University of )( in 1975. He will receive a law J, fegree from the George Washington university in May of 1987 with a 'Peciality in environmental, law. ' - - , .
