Arts Council presents cultural arts awards Keith Christeson, Pleasant Grove City Councilman, presented Cultural Arts Awards to deserving students and faculty during the annual Awards Assembly at PGHS. The recipients received a cer-tificate from the Pleasant Grove Arts Council for their contribution to cultural arts in the community. The students were nominated by their teachers. The Arts Council nresented a special award to Principal Tom Carlile for his assistance to the arts, and to David Fullmer, band teacher, for his enthusiasm and deter-mination to make the Pleasant Grove High School band a notewor-thy part of the community. Others receiving awards were Paul Mecham, Tina Yeamans, Warren Wakamatsu and Laura Candland for instrumental music; Jon Carter, Cris Rosenlof, and Tawni Bristol for drama; Kyle Judson for technical theater; Shalaine Grimshaw and Heidi Byland for modern dance; Laura Worthington for ballroom dance; Chris Larsen for visual arts; Lisa Harmer, Mike Walker, and Teresa Bird for choral music; David McKay and Mike Walker for Cloggers West; and Mike Maloney for literature. p , ' - 4 Vikings of the Month are, L-- Mike Brittain, Brian Steele, Shawn Carter, Chad Hunt, Wayne Thornton and Shawn Radmall. All attend UVCC. Six students named as Vikings of the Month Pleasant Grove High School students, who also attend Utah Valley Community College and who have maintained good grades, there were named as the May Vikings of the Month by the PTSA. Honored were seniors, Chad Hunt, son of Alex and Susan Hunt; Mike Brittain, son of Chris and Kathy Brittain; and Brian Steele, son of Robert and Marilyn Steele. Junior's named were Shawn Carter, son of Dee and Carol Carter; Wayne Thornton, son of Hal and Alice Thornton; Shawn Radmall, son of Steve and Nadine Radmall, Matt Clark, son of John and Karen Clark; and Dale Hall, son of Lawrence and Lorene Hall. PGHS class of 1925 plans reunion The Pleasant Grove High School Class of 1925 will hold its 62 year reunion on Wednesday, June 24, at 1 p.m. at The Bungalow, 235 S. 100 West, Pleasant Grove. Dinner will be served at 2 p.m. with a short program afterward. The cost for the dinner will be $9.50 per person. Reservations may be made by sending the money to Sytha West Johnson, 420 N. 400 East, Pleasant Grove, The reunion committee is Tony Gleason, Sytha Johnson and Maurine Sidwell. There were 36 in the graduating class. Eighteen of the 36 are still living. Alpine Highway Sewing classes offered at jr. high It is not too late to register for the sewing classes being offered at Pleasant Grove Junior High. Two classes are being offered. A beginning class is scheduled for sixth and seventh graders who want to get started on the skills of sewing. They will be making shorts and other simple projects. The advanced class is for anyone above eighth grade. They may select their own projects. The class will run for two hours a day for three weeks, beginning June 8 to 26. Students interested should contact Jennie Barber, 50 N. Center, at the Alpine School District, or they may register June 8 at Pleasant Grove Junior High at the first class. Beginning class starts at 8 a.m. til 10. The advanced class is from 10 a.m. to noon. Class times may need to be adjusted later. The cost is $31. One-fourt- h unit of credit may be earned. Funshine Learning Center has openings and Tuesday and Thursday mor-nings.
