Show - P,G. spikers take second in tourney Pleasant Grove High School's Cirl's Varsity Volleyball team irlicipated in the Skyview In-iational In-iational Tournament in Smithfield past weekend, and walked away 'it the second place honors. girls played very well in the Ornament, with Coaches Marie and Becky Ritchie working the girls to help them to beat all teams that they played except J Elder High School from -rham City, which is a 4A school, nthe first match, P.G. beat West School in the first game of the li, 15-4. In the second game, ,lslcame back with a score of 15-tTtai 15-tTtai P.G. decided that they k "W to win, and battled back with a final score of 15-13. Their second match on Friday was against Box Elder. The team just couldn't seem to quite get into the game, and Box Elder played very well. Box Elder beat P.G. in this match, 15-8 and 15-6. P.G. then seemed to come back together in their next match against Skyview on Friday night, and beat them in the first game, 15-11. In the second game, Skyview had some great unblocked hits, and they beat P.G., 15-10. Vikki Allred and Hope Smith made helped the team pull ahead, and made 9 unanswered serves between them, helping P.G. to beat Skyview in the last game, 15-6. First thing on Saturday morning, P.G. met their rival, Spanish Fork. This was a great match, with the lead going back and forth in every game between the two teams. Spanish beat P.G. in the first game, 16-14. Then, the next two games proved to be just as close, with P.G. beating Spanish 15-12 and 15-13. The league match-up between the two teams next Tuesday at home will prove to be very exciting. P.G. continued to win throughout the rest of the tourney in matches against Mountain Crest, Tooele and South High Schools. Congratulations to the team and their coaches for showing so well in the tournament. |
