Mud football game quickly deteriorates into mudfight They took turns acting By KALYN SKCRETAN Football has always been a popular fall activity but it seems many young people want to really get into it, with a mud football game. Last year's game was such a success the Young Men and Young Women of the Eleventh Ward planned a mud volleyball game this year but it didn't take long for the net to go down and everyone was diving after a football. Former Bishop Ralph Phillip's garden spot, was prepared for the event. It was plowed and tilled and watered for 24 hours before the event took place. as the youth. as referee and alternating as members of the team. It was a beautiful day and before the game was over, it ended up in a plain old mud fight. Bishop Lee Carlson promised ice cream, but everyone was so dirty and cold they all headed for home. It started out with a picnic where everyone had an opportunity to make a Mexican stack-u- p - ham-- , burger, beans, corn chips, and salad fixins' were all stacked just the way each individual likes to make his dish. The adult leaders participated and were coated with mud as well Back-to-Scho- ol Night scheduled at P.G. Jr. High The annual Back-to-Scho- Night for Pleasant Grove Junior High School will be held on Thursday, September 17, 1987. All parents are urged to attend. Parents will meet PTA officers and the school's administration and teachers in an opening meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. A short patriotic speech will be given by Doug Nichols to com-memorate the signing of the Con-stitution. Following the brief meeting, parents will have the opportunity to visit each of their student's classes where the teacher will give a seven minute presentation covering class objectives, procedures, content, grading and other matters of in-terest. Parents will need to bring a copy of their student's schedule and room numbers when they come to the program. Teachers will not have time for individual conferences concerning students. There will be an opportunity later in the year on October 13 and 14 and February 24 and 25 for parents to visit with teachers concerning their student's progress in school. If parents feel the need for an individual con-ference prior to Parents' Visiting Days, they may call the school and make an appointment with the appropriate staff member. All parents are urged to become members of the PTA and to be actively involved during the year. A membership table will be set up for your convenience along with a suggestion box. Your ideas are always appreciated. PTA President Pat Huntsman also wants parents to know that there will be and sweatshirt sales again this year. They will be on display at Back-to-Scho- Night.
