The strong and competitive team returned this week from the Cache Valley Invitational where they not only beat the Region rival, Spanish Fork, but six other teams to take second place. The only loss was to a school, the Box Elder Bees who took first place. The win over Spanish Fork was the first time in three years that a P.G. volleyball team has beat the Dons. The varsity has won 9 games and lost only one. Fans, parents, alumni and all who have followed or wished they could attend a girls' match should attend and support Booster Night. The Sophomores play at 4 p.m., the. Jr. Varsity at 5 p.m., and the Varsity at 6: 15 p.m. True or False: "A booster is a person or fan who has paid a $10 fee." A real Viking Booster starts by joining the Boster Club (which includes a $10 fee,) but is seen in the stands cheering, and supporting their team. He travels to away games as well as 'home' games. He knows who the team members are, who the starters are, who the captains are, what the strengths of the team are, and what the teams win-los- s record is. A real Viking Booster is in the stands every game. Be a Viking Booster-Supp- ort girls' volleyball! Attend Tuesday, Sept. 22. Hunter Education classes are , recommended for all hunters As of Jan. 1, 1988, any person born after Dec. 31, 1965, must show proof of certification in hunter education prior to purchasing a hunting license. Wildlife officials are en-couraging all hunters, especially those affected by the new law, to enroll in a hunter education course to void any delays in applying for the hunts in Feb. 1988. Contact the nearest DWR office to inquire about hunter education classes. Don't lose your blue card, hunters When a hunter under 21 years of age buys a hunting license, heshe must show proof of completing a hunter education course by showing a "blue card." The blue card does not need to be and should not be carried in the field while hunting. A day or two before each hunting season, the Division of Wildlife Resources offices are packed with young hunters and parents trying to obtain duplicate blue cards because a young hunter has misplaced the card or lost his wallet. Wildlife officials urge young hunters and their parents to keep the blue cards in a safe place, perhaps in a family file, a safe deposit box or even a sock drawer. Then, once a year, go to that safe place for the blue card and take it with you when purchasing the hunting license. - P,G. spikers take second in tourney Pleasant Grove High School's Cirl's Varsity Volleyball team irlicipated in the Skyview Tournament in Smithfield past weekend, and walked away 'it the second place honors. girls played very well in the Ornament, with Coaches Marie and Becky Ritchie working the girls to help them to beat all teams that they played except J Elder High School from rham City, which is a 4A school, nthe first match, P.G. beat West School in the first game of the li, In the second game, ,lslcame back with a score of P.G. decided that they k "W to win, and battled back with a final score of 15-1- Their second match on Friday was against Box Elder.
