Show Craig Hayden breaks high jump record Craig Hayden pushed the PGHS high jump record to 6'8" last week in a meet at Spanish Fork. Hayden erased the mark of 6 6 set less than three weeks ago by Todd Simmons. Simmons cleared 6'4" in the Spanish meet. Spanish Fork won the team title with 81 points, while PG posted 59 and Carbon 39 in the boys division. Other first place winners for PG were Simmons in the 100 and 200, Chris Larsen in the 110 high hurdles, hur-dles, Paul Mattinson in the 400 and Cory Atkinson in the javelin. Jason Lutes was second in the discus and Brandon Despain took second place in the pole vault. Kirk Goodwin had a pair of thirds in the high jump and javelin and Bill Larsen was third in the 800. Eric Cook was third in the 1600. Rhonda Simmons had a big day for the girls with three first. Simmons Sim-mons won the 110 highs, 100 and 300 meter hurdles. Lena Kerr was first in the 3200 with Lisa Hall tops in the javelin and Shanna Nielson winning the shot put. Spanish Fork won the meet with 77, with PG second with 47 and Carbon third with 39. Several PG athletes will participate par-ticipate in the BYU Invitational this weekend. |
