Lindon School honors PTA Reflections winners by KALYN SECRETAN The Relections Project, a national PTA program for the Cultural Arts, uncovered some very talented young people in the Lindon Elementary. The school received many wonderful won-derful entries and the judges had a difficult task to determine finalists. Participants produced 115 entries in visual arts, 34 in literature and 6 in musical composition. The PTA felt that each child needed to be rewarded for working so hard on their entries and each one was given a certificate of participation and a small statue of liberty as a tribute to the years theme, "From Liberty's View." The PTA feels strongly a need for creative expression in the school system, reflections given children an opportunity to think creatively and develop artistic skills beneficial throughout life. The school winners were honored at a recent PTA meeting and each one received a trophy with a mirror standing on the base and names were engraved on a plaque. Art - Landon Gibson, Adam DeVincent, Jason Humphrey, Kathryn DeVincent, Emily Er-canbrack, Er-canbrack, Cori Humphrey and Lauri Ann Henrickson ; Music - Jennifer Blackhurst and Heather Ekstrom, Literature - Deborah Foster, Eric Jurgens, Paul Atkinson, Elizabeth Foster, Natilie Gibson and Bryant Condie. Cory Humphrey went on to win second place in art at the city level, Jennifer Blackhurst received honorable mention in music and Deborah Foster placed third in literature. The new Lindon PTA officers for 1986-87 were installed at the special reflections honor program and refreshments were served. |
