Editors note: This is the second in 'a series of articles concerning the contestants vying for Strawberry Days Queen. g Among the 11 contestants vying for the title of Strawberry Days fl Queen are Nicole Harmon, Loralee J Mecham, Jackie Groo and Melinda 1 Pymm. I The queen will be selected at a 1 pageant which will be held March 29 j at 7 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove High School Auditorium. Tickets are 4 available from the contestants, the 1 committee or at the door. " Nicole Harmon, 17, is the daughter ,1 of Kenneth and Carolyn Harmon. 4 She is a senior at Pleasant Grove High School and will graduate this t spring. J She is a member of A Cappella 1 Choir and Chamber Choir at the high ( school. She is also a member of FHA ;i and is in charge of public relations jl for the Youth City Council. She will sing on the talent portion of the pageant. ?! Nicole's hobbies are sports, ii singing and teaching kids. She en- joys swimming, skiing and softball - and last year played on a softball fastpitch team that took second in state. She has been on the honor roll and has received awards for singing and for typing. Nicole would like to attend BYU, perform with the Young Ambassadors, Am-bassadors, and graduate with degrees in business and in Elementary Education. Loralee, 18, is the daughter of Ron and Jalayne Mecham. She is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and has attended Hollywood Beauty College. In high school, she participated in the senior play, art and sang with the chorus in junior high. She was also a Sterling Scholar candidate in art and participated on the school Academic Decathlon team and the state drill team. She is planning on doing a dance in the pageant. Loralee likes- to sketch, write poetry, dance and ride horses. She participates in volleyball, rodeo, track and cross country. She was Strawberry Days Jr. Rodeo Queen in 1982. She plans to continue her education. Jackie, 18, is the daughter of Dallas and Janice Groo. She is a senior at Pleasant Grsove High School and will graduate this spring. She plans to sing for her talent in the pageant. She enjoys skiing, music, camping, cam-ping, out of doors, sports, volleyball and swimming. She has participated with the A Cappella Choir in high school, been on the Seminary Council, on the honor roll, on the school volleyball team, swim team and the community com-munity swim team. She would like to become a beautician. Melinda, 18, is the daughter of Howard and Loretta Pymm. She is a senior at Pleasant Grove High School. She is a member of Cloggers West and the A Cappella and Chamber Choirs. She likes hair designing and hopes to make it a career. She enjoys clogging, singing, playing the piano and right now she is learning to play the guitar. She likes most sports, especially basketball, football and baseball and she likes to ride horses.
