J Gates were installed at the boat harbor in order to control whats If being dumped in the area. Norm Castle has requested to ' , haul sand from the lake dredging to ,lan area where asphalt and cement . have accumulated and level it off for a storage area. It was deter- ,'fl mined it would be to the advantage of both to carry out the project. ' Taking advantage of the good weather, park improvements got an carjy start this year,, sod was removed from the park entrance and placed near the state road. The infield was cut out for ball diamonds and sodding started in the corner of the park. Efforts are underway to find sod at a reasonable price to prepare an additional ball field in cooperation with the LDS Church. The Lindon boys baseball program is underway and the leagues have enough money coming in to provide for needed uniforms, but the committee requested the city purchase a batting machine at a cost of about $1,200. The council agreed to use the funds received from the Alp;ne School District Recreation Fund to purchase the machine. A "want list" budget was submitted sub-mitted by the Public Works Dept. One item on the list was a new asphalt roller. It was felt the need of a roller was the biggest drawback last year. The city may have an opportunity to sell their "cat," and are looking at another one which would better serve their needs. See Lindon Council Page 3 Lindon. There was not enough j CfJ people in attendance to elect officers of-ficers which was to be a matter of business. Ballots were taken home and sent to those not in attendance. 00 A discussion was held concerning jW Lindon concerns before a zone change will be granted. The con- cerns are: The land belongs to ' Lindon upon completion. The land-57 land-57 fill will be groomed and landscaped by EPA funding and control will be placed on blowing debris. All of the proposed landfill property has been purchased by the solid Waste District. The original landfill was made up of property belonging to Pleasant Grove, American Fork and Utah County but was annexed by Lindon years ago. The law states the Solid Waste District cannot do a thing' until the zone is changed. Lindon is still not excisted about having a dump in their city. If it is handled in the way they suggest it can be an asset to them in the longrun. The engineering firm appreciates the Lindon attitude and will try to help them get what they want. A golf course was their first choice on usage of the completed landfill. After consideration, they have found golf courses are all costing cities a lot of money, they may want to look at the options again. Lyle Swaney, landfill manager, understands Lindons concerns and indicated he is willing to help enforce en-force the problem of blowing debris. The councilmen plan to go down to the site with the engineering firm where a helium balloon will be attached to a string and will rise to the proposed height which is 30-50 feet to determine the height of the landfill. |
