He has also done a great defensive job behind the plate. Don Young, senior infielder, started the season with a broken arm, and although he sat out part of the year, he came back to finish strong. He batted .467 and is a very flexible player, who can play about any position. Jeff Harris is only a junior and has led the Vikings on the mound for two seasons. He had an outstanding out-standing season, with a 1.67 ERA and only allowed 11 earned runs the entire season. He also led the team in home runs with seven, and was second in RBI's. Outfielder Scott Jensen and pitcher Adam Taylor were named to the second All-Region team. The Vikings had a great year and tied with Spanish Fork for -the region championship. They had their annual post-season awards banquet recently, and the following awards were given: Team Most Valuable Player: Deon Bezzant; Outstanding Hitter: Scott Jensen; Outstanding Pitcher: Jeff Harris; Outstanding Fielder: Darren Hooley; Mr. Hustle: Cody Bell and Gary Roberts; Most Improved Im-proved Players: Adam Taylor and Scott Jensen. |
