Show Be proud of PG band Those who watched the Strawberry Days parades Thursday could not help but be proud of the Pleasant Grove High School band as it marched down the street near the head of the procession. It was just a short time ago that Pleasant Grove had no summer band program. There was no local band to lead that community celebration parade. Then a Pleasant Grove High School graduate, former studentbody president, former missionary, and not yet a graduate of BYU, took over the summer band. David Fullmer, a former band student at PGHS, volunteered to lead the band. He was assisted by his wife, the head twirler at BYU, and the summer band program took off. This year when Dave began the summer band program it was with a little different viewpoint. He will be the high school's band director this fall when school starts. He graduated from BYU this spring after serving as student director of the Cougar Band this past year. The enthusiasm of this young man has rubbed off on the band members and the flag twirlers. When they marched down the street Thursday there was the feelinu of confidence, showmanship and ability that radiated out to the crowd. We expect to see the high school band on the football field between halves of the football games this fall tye expect to see them in parades throughout the county this summer, representing the city and school to the best of their ability. ' We expect to see a pride in the band program that will be unsurpassed anywhere else in the state. One thing is for certain. If the students can maintain the enthusiasm of their leader, they will be destined for great things. It has been rumored that Pleasant Grove High School band is in line for new uniforms this coming year. If the rumor is true, it will be the logical way for a new year new band, a new director to begin. Best of everything to the Pleasant Grove High School band and its director. We are proud of you. |
