JIU 4The Rented Christmas' brings warmth $ By MARCELLA WALKER If you want to really get in the spirit of Christmas, you should go and see "The Rented Christmas" which is now being performed at the Valley Center Playhouse in Lindon. The play will continue through the Christmas holidays, including the week after Christmas, being per-formed each Friday, Saturday and Monday. The theater is located at 780 N. 200 East, Lindon. Shows begin at 8 p.m. This is one of the warmest, most Christmasy shows we have seen in a long time. The exclamations from the audience when the show was over, the applause, the response to the humorous lines, was testimony to the excellence of this drama. The large audience was included in the action as they were invited to sing-alon- g with "Jingle Bells" and the appearance of Santa Claus in one scene was fun when he took time to talk with some of the kids in the audience. This is the story of a man who decides to rent a Christmas from a shop which purports to "rent anything". Not only does he want to rent a tree, decorations, carolers, and presents, he wants children (five) and a wife, to boot. This was a tall order for Miss Weston at the rental shop, but she comes through. The cast members in this production seem to be having so much fun. They actually seem to "live" their part. The little glances, the inflection in the delivery of the lines, the knowing looks, all add to the fun of this presentation. As a viewer, you almost feel that you are observing a real Christmas celebration in a real home with a real family. It is real "down home," as they say. Excellent performances are made by Cynthia Thompson as Anne Weston, Grant Draper as John Dale, Dave Root as Jack (Jim), Kathy Farrer as Martha, Martin Johnson pi as Briggs, Tawni Bristol as fs( Tyson Dean Miller as Freddie jTu ftri Whitby as Willie, Jennifer Cynthia, Lon Brea as Mrs. Lindsey '$ arrtPhylhs, and Wes Whitby Ginni M Pence also plays the role f of Jean. The carolers are Steven G U' Shannah Whitby, Wes Whitb Megan Peterson and Erin Peterson Mel Taylor is the director for this W production. Tickets for the play are $3.50 for adults, $2.75 for students and senior is citizens, and $13.50 for families jets Tickets are available at the door but the theater is recommending that people call 3 or 6 for a reservation to assure seating for the preferred performance. We would highly recommend this play to everyone, children included, 'jltf It will certainly help develop the warmth and spirit of the Christmas ffg season for ' you. ,1a fl Vector Video sweepstakes winners named The "We Care About You" Sweepstakes contest continues at Vector Video with the second drawing for prizes at their store at 53 South Main in Pleasant Grove. Depending on age, symptoms and other health problems, you may benefit from a product containing one or more of the following ingredients: Antitussives reduce unnecessary coughing (dry cough). One of the most popular and most effective nonprescription cough sup-pressants is dextromethorphan. Expectorants help loosen thick, sticky sputum to help clear the lungs. Terpin hydrate and guaifenesin are included in many products as expectorants. Antihistamines work as "drying agents" to reduce runny nose and help clear sinus congestion. Popular antihistamines are chlorpheniramine, pyrilamine and doxylamine. Decongestants shrink swollen sinus membranes and passages. Two of the most popular decongestants are pseudoephedrine and phenylpropanolamine. |
