In conclusion, i Chatman told the students to keep J setting and reaching their goals. 5 By LUKE LEONARD Jeff Chatman, forward for the BYU basketball team, spoke to a group of seventh graders at Pleasant Grove Jr. High last Tuesday. He told the students it was im-portant to set goals. "Without setting goals," he said, "I would never have gotten as far as I did in basketball and academic skills." Through his great success in basketball, his grades are still more important than his game. In high school Chatman carried a 3.9 GPA (grade point average). During his junior year he set one goal for himself, that was getting accepted onto the varsity basketball team. During the tryouts he was asked what his GPA was and he proudly said, "It's a 3.9, why?" The 7 up Club is a club for seventh graders who set academic goals and then reach for those goals. As a reward each year, a party is held for those who achieve their goals. At the party students receive a can of 7up, donated by the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company. The club and the party are run by the counselors, ; ......
