Show Surprises develop as hoop men begin league play The 1985-86 Men's Basketball Program in Pleasant Grove started off with a bang as players worked out the kinks from spring and summer lay-off. If the first night's results are any indication the 1985-86 1985-86 season should provide some excellent basketball and a number of surprises. The first big surprise occurred in the third game of the evening with SAVEAK dropping one of the preseason pre-season favorites, the Kinsmen, 65-58. 65-58. SAVEAK was led by Brent Peterson with 23 points. However, high scoring for the game was Colby Adamson with 25 and backed up with 18 from Kaylyn Whiteley. Steve Peterson Interiors jumped off to a big start with a 74 to 48 victory over the young Story Pharmacy team. Petersons was led by Justin Bone with 22, while every member of the team scored and contributed to the effort. In a losing cause, Kevin Allridge scored 25 and Brady Harris had 8. The game was close up until the fourth quarter when Petersons used their experience to break out from the 44-33 third quarter score to forge the victory. SouthamWarburton Aluminum scored an impressive victory over Interstate Transmissions, another pre-season favorite, 64 to 45. Both teams played extremely well considering it was the first night of the league. Interstate was a little bit cold at the hoop but should come together in the next several games. Mark Atwood had the hot hand with 19 points to lead the SouthamWarburton team and Scott Fairbanks scored 14. Kyle Tolman led Interstate with 16 while Gordy Smith had 11. Games are played at the high school boys gym on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. |
