Show ' Baugh receives friend of I Education' award Evan Baugh, retired educator and current president of the Alpine j. Foundation - the fund-raising arm ' of the Alpine School District is the recepient of the Alpine Education Association's (AEA) "Friend of Education" award for 1985-86. "This honor is awarded to those wno go above and beyond the call of duty to promote education," says Ardy Greening, AEA president. I Baugh said he was very surprised and honored to be chosen for the award. "I had no idea anything was thinking of me in that way," he commented. He retired five years ago from a career which included seventeen years as a teacher and 17 years as a principal. All but his first two years were spent in the Alpine School District. Although retired, he continued his activity with education by helping organize and agreeing to serve as president of the Alpine Foundation, an organization designed to raise money to give to schools in the j i district for special programs. iHe is also currently president of tie Utah Retired School Employees Association (URSA). Baugh's past activity includes c service as president of the Orem Kiwanis Club and of the Secondary School Principals Association, an association which includes the entire II state. He earned his B.S. and Masters degrees in physical education and i health from Utah State University, Jj and has done graduate work at . Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. ? He and his wife Clara reside in S I Orem and have five children and 26 grandchildren. |
