Show Daffodil Day coming soon The American Fork Unit of the American Cancer Society will be taking orders next week for the group's Daffodil Day, scheduled for March 14. A force of volunteers will be bringing this first spring flower, the flower of hope, to residents of Utah County as a major fund-raising effort that signifies the start of the local crusade against cancer. The flowers will be sold at various locations throughout the county on March 14, or advance orders can be placed Feb. 11-19. For more information in-formation contact Cindy Horrocks at 756-9371. Donations collected from the flower sale will be used for cancer research, education and service programs of the Utah County District. Businesses and employers are being encouraged to make advance orders for distribution of the flowers to their employees or as gifts to hospitals and nursing homes. Thousands of daffodils will be coming into the area from the west coast as part of a special shipment for Daffodil Day in Utah County. The daffodil is selected because it is one of the first flowers of spring and represents a symbol of hope for cancer patients. |
