A force of volunteers will be bringing this first spring flower, the flower of hope, to residents of Utah County as a major fund-raisin- g effort that signifies the start of the local crusade against cancer. The flowers will be sold at various locations throughout the county on March 14, or advance orders can be placed Feb. For more in-formation contact Cindy Horrocks at 756-937- Donations collected from the flower sale will be used for cancer research, education and service programs of the Utah County District. Businesses and employers are being encouraged to make advance orders for distribution of the flowers to their employees or as gifts to hospitals and nursing homes. Thousands of daffodils will be coming into the area from the west coast as part of a special shipment for Daffodil Day in Utah County. The daffodil is selected because it is one of the first flowers of spring and represents a symbol of hope for cancer patients. Not in the case of large bowling 2W pin setting machines placed in the Jack and Jill (Bowling) Lanes in ca" American Fork when the firm nin opened 28 years ago. mnB Jack Wadley, owner of the East recreation facility, discovered this hour when he planned to move the ces; machines to new lanes at 105 South 700 East in American Fork recently. As a result, a large front window in the,, old facility had to. be taken out in order to remove the equip-ment. "We knew when we planned the move that the equipment wouldn't go out the present doors so we had made arrangements to remove the window," Mr. Wadley said as he watched the equipment being taken out the window. The unusual maneuver did attract attention of passersby, however, who couldn't figure out what was going on. ...... Mr. ; Wadley, said ...when the. equipment was put in 28 years ago by then owner John Keysor there was a large door at the back of the building where it was brought ' through. The door has since been closed - making it necessary to remove the equipment through the window. The move is complete now, however, and the new lanes are expected to be open for business Wednesday or Thursday of next week, the owner said.
