Show Adult fireside planned Briant and Barbara Jacobs will be the featured speakers at the regular monthly single adult fireside of the North Utah Valley Region. The fireside will be held at the American Fork West Stake Center, 165 N. 350 West. This month only the firesidewillbeginat8p.m. All singles are invited to attend the fireside. The Jacobs, who recently lived for a year in China, will be discussing their experiences there, highlighted by a slide presentation and exhibit of Chinese artifacts. Mr. Jacobs received his Ph.D. in American literature from the State University of Iowa. He is a professor of American literature, at Brigham . Young University, where he " pioneered the teaching of that subject and has served as chairman of the American literature section of the BYU English department. For many years he wrote the lessons in English and American literature for Relief Society. He has held several church positions in the MIA, Sunday School and high priests quorurm, and has served on the high council of the BYU Fourth Stake. Mrs. . Jacobs received her bachelor's degree from BYU, where she also has done graduate work. A homemaker and author, she taught English for one year at y the University of Utah, and for three years was program coordinator for a Reader's Digest exchange program for Japanese students . She has held several LDS church positions, and is the author of "What Do I Do Know?" and "So You're Going on a Mission," and has had several articles published in the "Ensign." The Jacobs have co-authored the book "Missions for Marrieds." They are the parents of five children. |
