Show riUle,P'-s'RevicW'T""rS- - Maze Electronics opens offering 'Leading Edge' Maze Electronics has opened at 20 South Center, No. 9, in the Center Street Plaza, offering area residents the first computer store in the north Utah County area. Grand opening ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, March 1, at 10 a.m., according to Michael Rich, owner. Opening specials are planned. Store hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The firm carries Leading Edge and North Star computers; and Diablo, C Itah, Epson and Silver Reed printers; and modems. Computer supplies and limited software for IBM compatibles are also available. Robert Eliason, Pleasant Grove, is sales manager for the new firm. Mr. Rich says the firm has been open for just over a year doing business consulting and engineering. While they will con-tinue in this line, they have now decided to go retail. "Both the Leading Edge and the North Star computers are known for reliability and are extremely cost effective," he said, and are good as both business and personal com-puters. Although they have basic popular software programs including ac-counting packages, word processing, and others, they specialize in vertical software such as a land surveying package, an auto and motorcycle parts package, and a pharmaceutical package. Mr. Rich said training seminars are planned -- - computer awareness classes to introduce businessmen and area residents to computer use -- - what a computer is, how to select what they need, what software does and what is available, how to configure the system to get what they need. "They can then better decide what computer is for them - or if they need a computer at all," he said. Mr. Rich has a strong background in computers and electronics. He started out servicing electronics and computers, working for Wang for two years. "I found a lot of needs weren't being met in the business computer field," so he began designing and making custom interaction circuits and different specialized programs and devices needed to make the business more efficient. He realized there was a need for a computer store in American Fork, as the closest store is in the Orem area, and decided to go retail with the firm. - Born in Illinois, he says he was "raised all over the place" and came here from Ogden. He and his wife, Jane, reside in American Fork and are the parents of two daughters. Speaking of Maze Electronics, he says "support is our number one goal. We are equipped to support what we sell and to give what help is needed."
