Year-roun- d fishing starts in January Since the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources announced year-roun- d fishing, many anxious fisherman are confused about when the new regulations take effect. Fishing will be open year-roun- d starting Jan. 1, 1985. The '84 general season, however, ends Nov. 30. Year-roun- d fishing was approved by the Utah Wildlife Board in early November. Fisheries managers hope to provide increased fishing opportunities and disperse fishing pressure throughout the year. Most Utah waters statewide will adopt the year-roun- d season although some will have lower bag limits during the winter. Soe popular Utah fishing waters will remain open through December, providing angling op-portunities for hardy sportsmen. These weaters are listed in the 1984-198- 4 fishing regulations in the year-roun- d waters section. Among those open for the remainder of this year are: Flaming Gorge, Bear Lake, Lake Powell, Pineview, Willard Bay, Starvation, Price River below Scofield, and Yuba Reservoir. Anglers interested in these and other 1984 year-roun- d waters should refer to the fishing regulations available at all Division of Wildlife Resources regional offices. P.G. Ma 2331 Utah State Hospital patients need Christmas gift sponsors Christmas is one of the most '. joyous and family-oriente- d times of the year; but for patients at the Utah State Hospital who have no I family support it could be the ' loneliest season. I Last Christmas 180 patients who would have otherwise been I forgotten, received Christmas gifts and cheer through the efforts of caring individuals in our com-- T munity. This year the hosDital has 200 patients, ranging in age from 6 ' to 90 years, who are in need of help. ; Under the supervision of the Utah ; State Hospital, interested in- - l dividuals, clubs, church groups, - etc., have the opportunity to sponsor individual patients by providing new Christmas gifts. Anyone who would enjoy providing this worthwhile service may call Janina Chilton, Public Relations Director, at the Utah State Hospital, at 373-440- ext. 240, and will be given a patient's name and a list of gift suggestions to shop from. A cash donation will also be welcome, and volunteers will do the shopping. It is our desire to provide each of these 200 s with a meaningful Christmas and gifts they will enjoy. With enough community support, this goal can be achieved. |
