' The parachute jumpers, she says, I members of the Cedar Valley Sky Divers. "Most of us have over 1,000 hours of Jump experience," states Chuck Lambert of American Fork, instructor and jump master. Other jumpers performing that day are Brett and Shauna Pendleton; Pen-dleton; Shawn Eva, Salt Lake City and brother to Shauna Pendleton; Brick Mason, Salt Lake City; and pilot Wes Metcalf . The skydiving team participated in the National Skydiving Championships Cham-pionships in Muskogee, Okla. in 1983. During the rodeo demonstration demon-stration they will perform some of the formations they accomplished during the national championship show. The Little Oak Cloggers of Lehi will provide entertainment along with the Reata Riders who will present a riding demonstration. "We're happy to have Ken Gillman (of Lindon) as announcer," Mrs. Jensen stated. He is a popular retired rodeo celebrity who has been a Utah rodeo announcer for many years. A special activity of the day will be a community fair. Individuals will be displaying crafts and hobbies hob-bies from 10 a.m. to noon. Judging 'of the projects will -be conducted and ribbons will be awarded, Mrs. Jensen says. She emphasizes that "Anyone in the state (who is handicapped) may participate." Individuals are encouraged en-couraged to contact her for display space. Community fair participants do not have tp be 4-H members. Refreshments can be purchased for lunch, however, individuals are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch. The refreshment booth will be sponsored by a local 4-H group in Utah valley. Picnic tables will be available at the rodeo grounds. The rodeo is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with the parachute jump followed by a gala parade featuring the Days of '47 royalty Cynthia Harvey, Queen, Pleasant Grove; Brooke Hudson, Alpine, first attendant; at-tendant; and Julie Harvey, .Pleasant Grove, second attendant. The rodeo queen will be crowned by the Days of '47 royalty. Contestants Con-testants for the rodeo queen are Venessa Bailey, Carol Bair, Paula Prickett and Kay Hoffman, all residents of the training school. Judges for this event are Mrs. Artalee Larson, Utah State. Training . School; Mrs. Diane Lavis, Utah State Training School; Mrs. Mary Peterson, vice president Days of '47 Committee; and the Days of '47 royalty, Cynthia Harvey, Brooke Hudson and Julie Harvey. Judges will evaluate the contestants on their riding ability and riding pattern; knowledge of their horse and tack; and personality characteristics which include poise, ' congeniality and friendliness. A horse show featuring halter and showmanship skills will follow. Participants may bring their own horse for this event. . At 2 p.m., the "cowboys" will mount up on the "rodeo" stock and special wheelchair events will begin. Events such as calf riding, calf roping, goat tying, barrel racing, pole bending and goat roping are scheduled. The public is invited to attend the day long activities. |
