The statistics Z July are not yet available but Mrs Smith said that the figures 1$ 'be similar with over 6,000 being checked out This is about 1,000 more per month than last summer. Because of school being out there are always mote books taken from the library in the summer than in the winter. The library is sponsoring a reading program to encourage the . .... s, asssss ;s"-;;-;: youngsters to read, also. The program is called "I'm a Book Invader." Those who read five books receive a certificate for a children's meal at Skippers, Mrs. Smith said. About 65 children have been involved in this program. A few less, about 60 in all, have participated in the program to read 10 books. Those who read the ten receive a Certificate for a children's meal at Village Inn. The children are being encouraged to read 50 books for which they get a gold star next to their name on a poster and a cetificate from the library. This is the first summer the library has given out dinner coupons in the reading program but some type of reading program is held each summer. The library is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Mrs. Smith said that the library is up to date on books of fiction for both men and women. The new books are handpicked. She noted that they keep right current on the best selling books which will be read. She added that they keep current on the LDS literature, as well. The library has cassette tapes which may be checked out. Some are music, some are languages but most of them are for children. They can be taken out for one week with one allowed per family. A new copy machine is also available at the library. It is in regular use, Mrs. Smith explained. The library has newspapers and periodicals as well as a good selection of Pleasant Grove Historical information. Mrs. Smith said that the library would like to have more information on historical matters and early homes in the community. Anyone desiring to pass this type of material on to the library are urged to do so. I tiV"tv- As5 if "' ?
