Because the Vikings have a bye this week, arrangements have been made to let the alumni players use the varsities pads and other j equipment with hopes of raising funds for the high school football m program. The game which is scheduled for 5 p.m. will feature "Mean Machine" pitted against another alumni squad, the "Raiders." Two weeks ago a player draft was held to determine squad members, and the two teams have been conducting workouts ever since. There will be a slight modification of the rules in order to protect players from injuries, and other rule changes have been made to help establish an offensive game. The purpose of the game is to raise funds for the high school football program, and it is also designed to give former players an opportunity to play organized football once again. Players whose ages run from 18-34 have been assured that ambulances, oxygen masks and doctors will be on hand to insure their safety. Community boosters are encouraged to come out and support the fundraiser so the game can become an annual event. " Cost of admission will be $1 for children age five to twelve; kids under five are free; $2 for adults and $5 per family. |
