Because the Vikings have a bye this week, arrangements have been made to let the alumni players use the varsities pads and other j equipment with hopes of raising funds for the high school football m program. The game which is scheduled for 5 p.m. will feature "Mean Machine" pitted against another alumni squad, the "Raiders." Two weeks ago a player draft was held to determine squad members, and the two teams have been conducting workouts ever since. There will be a slight modification of the rules in order to protect players from injuries, and other rule changes have been made to help establish an offensive game. The purpose of the game is to raise funds for the high school football program, and it is also designed to give former players an opportunity to play organized football once again. Players whose ages run from 18-3- 4 have been assured that ambulances, oxygen masks and doctors will be on hand to insure their safety. Community boosters are encouraged to come out and support the fundraiser so the game can become an annual event. " Cost of admission will be $1 for children age five to twelve; kids under five are free; $2 for adults and $5 per family. Cross country Pleasant Grove rolled to a 16-5- 0 Cross Country win over American Fork Friday during halftime at the PG-A- F football game. Andy Mingl, Robby Gray, Ken Colyar and Mike Fisher ran 1, 2, 3, 4 for the Vikes with David Maughan and Scott Humble placing 6th and 7th. The large football crowd gave the runners a loud cheer at both the start and finish, something the long distance runners are not used to hearing. Mingl responded by cover-ing the 1 12 mile course in 8:02. American Forks Dorkus Tewawinnea won the girls division with Marchelle Breasher finishing in third spot for the Vikings. Sophomore Football Eric Thomas threw for three touchdowns and Jesse Walker passed for another to lead the sophomore Viking to a convincing 26-- 2 win over American Fork in a game played on the Caveman field last Thursday. Heath Johnston took a screen pass 35 yards for PG's first score and . Walker passed 55 yards to Robert Jolley for another.Billy Adamson kicked an extra point to put the Vikes ahead 13-- 0 at the end of the first quarter. AF's only score came in the second period. The Cavemen drove to the PG 20 but Jerry Wood, Viking linebacker, intercepted for PG at the five yard line. On PG's second play, Thomas was caught in the end zone for a safety and the half ended 13-- In the third period, Mark Clements recovered a fumble for PG and Thomas passed to Waker for a 60 yard scoring bomb. The two point try was no good. With Clements and Mike Jensen carrying, the Vikes drove to the four where Thomas ran a bootleg pass and threw a strike to James Loader who ' made a two handed leaping catch in the endzone for PG's final touch-down. Adamson kicked the point after with 5:25 to play giving PG a 26-- 2 lead. Walker and Adamson had inter-ceptions for the Vikes and Scott Mosher had a fumble recovery. While the offensive line, of Jeff Hamner, Mike Sumner, Don Parker, Mark Kakola and Wood were giving the PG passers time to throw, PG's defense was giving the Cavemen fits. Jolley, Mosher, Clements, Shaun Nuttal and Sumner spent a good part of the game in the AF backfield. Defensive backs Tracy Flinders, Jensen and Nate Wright contained AF's outside attack with plenty of help from Paul Bronson, Johnston and Loader. , The Sophs will next play Provo on October 14 in Viking Stadium.
