Lindon School chooses Citizens of the Month for September the State Fair, and fifth graders to Clear Creek. By KAYLENE STARR -'. Lindon Elementary ; School recently an-; an-; nounced winners of its '.; "Citizen of the Month" ' program, sponsored by the PTA. They are Shari ; Long, Jared Davis, ;i Steven Gray, Brent Walsh, Dale Reynolds, ; Keven Reynolds, Bryan Robinson, Darren ; ; Parks, Heather Stevens, Sydney Biesinger, j Bruce Holt, Justin ,' Larsen, Kenneth ; Johnson, Jason Boyle, ; Kirt Walker, Sherilyn ; Patch, Steve Johnson, ; Craig Beenker, Shad - Mayne, Wade Snyder, ' Jessica Stubbs, Robyn ' Hammond, Chris Boyd and Darrin Haun. : Teachers selected ; students in the classrooms as citizens of the month who - demonstrated that they i were trying to be ' obedient and that they . ' cared about others in 'X ' the class. They were '; chosen in an effort to " J- " recognize students who 7 had been and encourage students to be more courteous towards each .other. Academic achievement was not considered as criteria for selection. In another program sponored by the PTA entitled "We Care About . Our School", students were asked to write essays and make posters illustrating the theme. Winners were chosen by judges selected from the PTA. Students who designed the I winning posters in- grac eluded David Tomlinson, Christina Caldwell, Wendy Veenker, Emily Meghdadi, Mandy Hicks, Mary Er-canbrack, Er-canbrack, Angie Sleter, Samantha Speed, Angela Goss, Wendy Davis, Shanon Penrod, Adam Landefeld, and Pam Beagley. Essay winners were Brian Horvath, Brandon Rhoades, Janae Anderson, An-derson, Michelle Worden, Josh Williams, Sydney Collins, Alicent Hellis and Robert Brown. A chorus directed by Barbara Walker and Lynell Wilkinson was begun this week at the school. According to Karen Van Orden, PTA President at Lindon Elementary, the chorus is for fifth and sixth graders. Mrs. Van Orden also noted that beginning violin classes have begun which involves in-volves fourth, fifth and sixth graders. Students in younger grades may sign up for violin instruction in-struction if parents will attend classes with them. All violin students must furnish their own instrument. These classes are taught by Carlene Wenker. Field trips during the month of September took the first graders to Granite Flats, third graders to Timpanogos Cave, fourth graders to |
