Show State creates medal of valor call of duty. The concept was expanded to recognize all citizens of the State who may be involved in heroic acts. Anyone knowing an ' individual who becomes involved in an act of valor is encouraged to contact the State Department of Public Safety. The State of Utah has created a Medal of Valor to be given to citizens who risk their lives to save the life of another. The medal will be awarded by the Governor upon recommendation by the Commissioner of Public Safety. A contest was held among State Department Depart-ment of Public Safety employees for design of teh medal. Norman P. Brown, a Highway Patrolman from Roosevelt, Utah, won a $200 savings bond for his entry. The theme of his design characterizes strength of mind or spirit, personal bravery and heroism.
