The public is invited and tickets are only $1. Cloggers West to host competition Hold on to your hats clogging enthusiasts! Pleasant Grove's Cloggers West will be hosting the first annual Intermountain Clog Championships this Saturday, Nov. 6, 1982, beginning at 6 p.m. and going to whenever. For $1 general admission you can see competition in singles, duets, and exhibitions from more than a dozen teams from all over Utah and Idaho. More than 130 dancers will converge on Pleasant Grove for the com-petition. Sponsored by Pleasant Grove's Cloggers West this event promises to be one of the loudest, enthusiastic and in-teresting events of the year. Contestants will range jn age from one year to 60 years, and will feature the Pleasant Grove Rain-bow cloggers, directed by Mark and Debbie Williams, the Ricks College Valhalla Dancers, the Sundance Kids from Cedar City, the Liberty Mountain Cloggers from Provo and Orem, as well as others from the Salt Lake and the Ogderi area and Cloggers West. Spectators are urged to bring a bucket of chicken, a blanket, and be prepared for a full evening of spirited com-petition. More than 50 trophies will be awarded which will include grand cham-pion male dancer, fe-male dancer, and the outstanding duet. It is interesting to note how much clogg-ing has grown in this area beginning with a single idea from Terry Tucker and at the urging and support from John Gourley, former PGHS Principal and Delores Bradshaw, former counselor at the high school. Sincer the beginning of clogging in this area, Cloggers West has twice in the last three years won first place at the World Clog Championships in the high school age division at Fontana, North Carolina, and from those efforts has come the beginning of the first major clog championship compe-tition west of Indiana. They have many creative ways to help parents arm their children against potential harms in the shows currently being shown without destroying the en-joyment of TV viewing, she added. In fact, many of the tools actually increase viewer participation and thus the enjoyment, she pointed out. The public is invited to attend this meeting.
